Meet Glasgow

Glasgow Clyde at Night

Opinions, everyone has them. Our city has certainly had its fans and doubters over the years due to some of its... livelier moments. Trust us, once you meet Glasgow and see what we're all about, you'll regret that you didn't visit us sooner. Forget what you've heard and make your own memories.

What would we recommend for entertainment in Glasgow? Heck, there's plenty to do! There are some brilliant bars and eateries in the city, we're not just into deep-fried Mars Bars washed down with Irn Bru (although we wouldn't say no either). Take a look at some of the city's best-loved haunts and if you find yourself too spoiled for choice, drop us a tweet and we'll be in touch with our favourites and the old faithfuls keeping us Weegies fed and watered.

There's the famous story that Oasis were discovered when gigging in our very own King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in 1993, and Glasgow's music scene is still thriving today with tonnes of unsigned and underground acts performing nightly across the city's many venues.

The city doesn't just come alive at night, oh no! We've been blessed with some of the most stunning parks and architecture and boy do we love to show them off. Take a stroll to the West End and visit the Kelvingrove area. The park and the famous art gallery and museum will have you open mouthed in awe and grabbing your camera. The walk through the West End in general is pretty with lots of little cafes and shops along the way so you won't ever be too far from a nice cup of tea and a Tunnock's teacake.

The Commonwealth Games brought lots of attention to Glasgow and with the eyes of the world on us, we spruced up a tad. As a result, you can take yourself down to the Clyde and have a nice walk along the river. Staying in the city centre, at one end you have the luscious Glasgow Green with the People's Palace and Winter Gardens. At the other end you'll find the SECC precinct area, home to the media centres for BBC Scotland and STV as well as our world-famous conference and concert venues - the Hydro and SECC- and... drumroll... the Glasgow Science Centre! Our home for the Predictive Recruitment Event has lots to see and do so we'll be sure to allow adequate playtime during our day there.

Glasgow Park

Glasgow is also home to some great shopping, if that's your thing. Edinburgh may have its 'Royal Mile' but we have a dedicated 'Style Mile' featuring big names from the world of retail. Running from Sauchiehall Street, down Buchanan Street and along Argyle Street, the style mile is lined with luxury brands as well as High St favourites. Believe it or not, every store isn't selling bagpipes, kilts and shortbread although there are one or two if you fancy a more 'traditional' purchase.

You may have heard our city's slogan People Make Glasgow and it's so true. Give us the chance to show you. We're pure dead brilliant, honest!
